Diagnostic Imaging

Dental Radiology and Cone Beam CT technology are important tools in diagnosing and treating oral and dental disease in pets.

CONE BEAM CT TECHNOLOGY

We are pleased to offer Cone Beam CT (CBCT) technology. CBCT images provides 3-D information on hard tissue structures like teeth and bone, rather than two-dimensional information provided by a conventional dental x-ray image. This helps with the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of certain conditions. The advantages of CBCT include:

  • Better image quality and accuracy compared to traditional x-ray images alone.
  • Provides more comprehensive information about your pet’s oral health.
  • Low radiation compared to traditional CT scans.
  • Comfortable, convenient, quick, and painless experience for patients.
  • Cost-effective and quick compared to traditional CT scans.
  • Facilitates early diagnosis and early detection of many oral and dental diseases.
  • Reveals the true 3-D anatomy and orientation of structures like teeth, tooth roots, jaws, nasal passage, orbit, skull, and temporomandibular joints.
  • Images aid in communication and education of pet owners regarding findings on their pet.
  • Images aid in determining true size and location of lesions and assists in a more accurate and thorough follow-up.

DIGITAL DENTAL RADIOLOGY

Dental radiology is an important tool in diagnosing and treating oral and dental disease in pets. Without veterinary dental radiographs, dental problems (infections) can be missed. Dental Radiographs help aid in diagnosis, treatment planning, monitoring treatment and post operative treatment success.

Dental radiographs are used to view the dental tissues and supporting structures for the animal’s teeth. They are also used to identify problems with the crowns and roots of the teeth, as well as the jaw bones, nasal cavity and soft tissues of the mouth. They are useful for evaluating the crown and roots of teeth as well as the supporting bone and soft tissue.

Dental radiographs are an important part of dental and oral examination because they can help identify the following conditions that are found in dogs, cats and other animals:

  • Periodontal disease
  • Endodontic disease
  • Tooth Resorption
  • Trauma, maxillary or mandibular fractures, fractured teeth
  • Dental abnormalities
  • Preoperative, perioperative and post operative evaluations
  • Nasal cavity disease
  • Missing teeth
  • Dentigerous Cysts
  • Oral Masses/Tumors
  • Retained Roots
  • Periapical abscesses
  • Genetic dental abnormalities
  • Cavities and Root Resorption
  • Abscessed teeth
  • Permanent tooth count in puppies
  • Retained Deciduous teeth
